Crowd gathered at funeral of J&K police officer killed in militant attack
SRINAGAR, SEP 13, 2021 : Crowd gathered at funeral; The body of Police Sub Inspector Arshad Ahmed Mir, who was killed in a militant attack in Srinagar, Kashmir, was buried last Sunday night. His body had reached Kalmuna village in Kupwara district where a large number of people had gathered. Its video has been tweeted by Jammu and Kashmir Police.
25-year-old Mir was shot when he was taking a detained man for a medical check-up. Jammu and Kashmir Police have informed by tweeting that DGP Dilbag Singh has said that ‘we have lost a brave young officer’.
The tweet read, “Every life that has been lost is a cause for concern for us and the perpetrators of this crime will soon be brought to justice.” Officials say that Mir had joined the Jammu and Kashmir Police last year as a sub-inspector.
After a year-long training, he was posted at Khanyar police station a few months back. The video of the attack on him has been captured on the CCTV camera, in which militants are coming and shooting him from behind. Three bullets had hit him in the head.
Earlier Director-General of Police (DGP) Dilbagh Singh said that the terrorists involved in the killing of a J&K Police sub-inspector in Khanyar today have been identified.
Speaking to reporters at the wreath-laying ceremony of the deceased constable at DPL Srinagar, the DGP said that all the previous modules of the terrorists involved in the pistol shooting had been eliminated, while this was the case. Looks like a new group has been formed.
“I don’t want to reveal the organization or module behind today’s attack but the perpetrators have been identified and they will be brought to justice soon,” he said. (Crowd gathered at funeral)
The DGP said that every life lost is the cause of concern for us and added that terrorists involved in the attack have been identified and follow up operation has been launched adding that perpetrators of the criminal act would be brought to justice soon.
As has been reported that Arshid Ahmad Mir, Probational Sub- Inspector was critically injured in a cowardly attack of terrorists at Khanyar in Srinagar. He was shifted to hospital where he left for a heavenly abode. (PTK)
