Free Multi-Specialty Medical Camp Brings Healthcare to Jagti Camp Residents

Relief Commissioner (M) Jammu and Dy. Director Health Services (Dent.) Inaugurates a Free Medical camp at SDH Jagti

Jammu, April 19, 2025: A free multi-specialty medical camp, organized by People’s Hut Foundation in collaboration with the Department of Relief and Rehabilitation (Migrants), J&K, was inaugurated today at the Sub District Hospital (SDH) in Jagti Camp, Jammu. The event, supported by Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity, Sharp Eye Sight Eye Hospital Jammu, KIRF, and the Directorate of Ayush J&K, provided vital healthcare services to residents, particularly the elderly, women, and children.

The camp, part of People’s Hut Foundation’s “Mobile Health Clinic Program” and Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity’s “Sehat Choupal Initiative,” offered a comprehensive range of services. Patients benefited from consultations with specialist doctors in various fields including physicians, physiotherapists, oncologists, dermatologists, gynecologists, ophthalmologists, dentists, and orthopedics, along with diagnostic services. This ensured that a wide array of health concerns could be addressed effectively.

The camp was organized under the supervision of Dr. Arvind Karwani, Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrants), J&K, and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Sharma, Deputy Director (Dental), Directorate of Health Services, J&K. During the inauguration, Dr. Karwani, alongside Dr. Sharma and Dr. Sanjay Raina, Medical Superintendent of SDH Jagti, commended People’s Hut Foundation for its commitment to improving healthcare access. They highlighted the importance of the initiative, especially for those who face barriers in accessing quality medical care.

Dr. Rohit Koul, Director and CEO of People’s Hut Foundation, emphasized the significance of providing specialist consultations, stating it represents a crucial step towards enhancing healthcare outcomes for the local population. A total of 242 patients received free medical services at the camp. The Ayush Department, represented by Dr. Himani Bhutyal, Dr. Pallavi Dutta, and Mr. Vijay Bhat, also participated. KIRF provided orthopedic and physiotherapy services through Dr. Imran Khan and Dr. Qazi Anosha. Ophthalmology services, including eye testing and screening, were provided by Sharp Sight Eye Hospitals Jammu. Ujala Cygnus JK Medicity contributed specialist doctors—Dr. Richu Sharma, Dr. Nidhi Thakur, Dr. Harsheen Bali, and Dr. Subby Kakkar—along with management staff including Mr. Dinesh Sharma, Mr. Ritvik Mahajan, Ms. Dhruvi, and Mr. Mehran Masood Dar.

The camp was widely praised by local residents, particularly the elderly and women, who expressed gratitude for the readily available healthcare services. Many thanked Sh. Muktesh Yogi for bringing these essential services to their doorstep. Numerous volunteers, including medical professionals and social workers, contributed to the smooth operation of the camp.

Dr. Sharma emphasized the significance of such camps in bridging the healthcare gap and pledged continued support for future initiatives aimed at serving underprivileged communities. Dr. Raina highlighted the crucial role played by NGOs like People’s Hut Foundation in ensuring community well-being. The event was attended by many prominent community members, including Pintoo Ji, Ashwani Bhat, Sunil Pandita, Tej Krishan Dhar, Naveen Gosani, and Subhash Kachroo, along with volunteers from the Martand KP Brigade. The overwhelming success of the camp reflects the positive impact of collaborative efforts in addressing community healthcare needs.
