Back to Village programmes fail to bring development in villages: Manjit Singh
Jammu, October 09, 2021: Apni Party Provincial President Jammu Manjit Singh today criticized poor developmental response from the Govt departments following back to village programmes in J&K.
Speaking to the people at village Dagore, Samba District, Manjit Singh, Former Minister, said that the villagers were hopeful when the back to village programmes were started by the Govt.
“They listed their developmental works to the respective officers of different departments which was started and concluded with pump and show. However, the developmental works could not be achieved as were anticipated,” he said while welcoming the people into the party.
Over a dozen people including retired Captain Subash Chander, Retired Master Madan Lal among others joined the Apni Party.
While speaking on the occasion, he said that the people were left hopeless without any development. “The villagers often demand development or construction of their lanes, drains, improvement in water supply system, repair of wells, maintenance of pond like small works. And these works too remained unfulfilled in many cases,” he alleged.
He said that the demands like tractor roads and link roads also remained unfulfilled.
He said the Kandi areas always faced water shortage and the department concerned is not able to do the need-full despite repeated representations and demands by the people.
He said that the water crisis must be ended by the Govt by launching a comprehensive plan for providing water to the needy people.
“The projects are executed on the papers and the plans which are initiated but never complete have no accountability nor any one is questioned about the suffering of people in Kandi areas,” he said.
He demanded that the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha must intervene so that the people of Kandi area can be provided safe drinking water.
The meeting was attended by District President, Samba, Raman Thappa, District President, Kathua, Ex-MLA Prem Lal, Ex-MLA Faqir Nath, State SC Coordinator Bodh Raj Bhagat and others.
