Major Bovine Smuggling bid, 49 Cattle Rescued, Six Arrested: Reasi Police
Jammu, June 13, 2021: As a part of drive against bovines smuggling launched by District Police Reasi, Team of Special Police Picket Khour Mahore) developed a specific information about smuggling of bovines in Bandey Narh area of Mahore, police team negotiated steep hill slopes for more than 2 hours, intercepted them at Bandey Narh & arrested three notorious bovines smugglers Nazir Ahmed S/O Sardar Mohd, Sadiq Hussain S/O Baj Hussain, Aijaz Ahmed S/O Wazir Ali all resident of Channa tehsil Chassana and rescued 26 Bovines from their possession while on way to Kulgam district of Kashmir valley.
In this regard FIR NO 32/ 2021 US 188 IPC stands registered at police station Mahore & investigations set in.
In another incident, team of police station Mahore intercepted and arrested one notorious bovines smuggler Noor Hussain S/O Shah Wali R/O Thillo tehsil Thuroo from Bandey Narh and rescued 13 bovines from his possession.
In this regards FIR no 33/2021 US 188 IPC stands registered at police station Mahore and investigations set in.
Whereas in another attempt of bovines smuggling in Chassana area, team of Police Station Chassana apprehended two notorious bovines smugglers namely Aijaz Ahmed and Mohd Iqbal both S’s/O Mohd Shafi R/O Tulli from Sungri area of Chassana and rescued 10 bovines from their possession. In this regard FIR no 21/2021 US 188 IPC stands registered at Police Station Chassana and investigations set in.
Pertinent to mention that accused Mohd Iqbal is a habitual bovines smuggler and FIR no 65/2020 US 188 IPC registered against him in Police station Mahore in the year 2020.
On preliminary enquiry, it has been found that one to two bovines were carried from different areas & collected at single point & were to be smuggled across valley through mountain-passes on foot only.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi Sh Shailender Singh is seeking day to day report from police stations to ensure that Bovine Smuggling is stalled without compromising without any hassle for the genuine seasonal movement of nomads (Gujjar’s) from the Jurisdiction of district Reasi. In the current season of nomads movement, 161 cattle are rescued in 20 case FIR’s registered against bovines smuggling in which 29 accused has been arrested since last 2 months in district Reasi.
