J&K Theatre Fraternity Mourns Demise of Media Icon Ashok Jailkhani
J&K Theatre, Radio and TV Association holds condolence meet to honour the legacy of former ADG Doordarshan, remembered as a mentor to generations.
Jammu, September 01, 2025: The cultural and media fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir gathered today to mourn the profound loss of Shri Ashok Jailkhani, the eminent media personality and retired Additional Director General of Doordarshan. In a solemn condolence meeting convened by the J&K Theatre, Radio and TV Association at Sanskriti Bhavan, Aap Shambhu Road, members of the arts community and retired Doordarshan officials paid rich floral tributes to the departed soul.
Shri Jailkhani, whose career left an indelible mark on Indian theatre and television, was remembered as a towering and inspirational figure. In an emotionally charged gathering, speakers highlighted his pivotal role in nurturing generations of artists, producers, directors, writers, and journalists. His unmatched command over theatre, broadcasting, and media administration was widely acknowledged as a benchmark in the industry.
Colleagues and associates fondly recalled him not just as a visionary administrator but as a mentor, guide, and friend. Several retired Doordarshan officials, who had worked closely with him, described him as one of the finest administrators they had known, whose leadership combined discipline with compassion. They noted his remarkable integrity and the deep respect he commanded from both technical and creative teams at every station he served.
The meeting concluded with a tearful adieu, as the Association resolved to cherish Shri Jailkhani’s monumental contributions and preserve his legacy for future generations in the fields of theatre and television.
